Abstract Hybrid hydromechanical transmissions are particularly suitable for heavy vehicle and have the potential to provide better efficiencies than other hybrid architectures. However, their study must be carried out with care, since there many possible transmission configurations is not one superior others all applications. The particular complexity of these requires that design treated as an optimization problem. In this paper, procedures “non-optimal” type compared “optimal” ones, which more precise former, but much heavier in terms calculation time. former consist two sections. first dedicated simultaneous layout components non-hybrid transmission; second accumulator only, can optimized by means simple physical laws or a “Design Experiments “procedure. procedures, on hand, proceed sizing entire through mathematical programming problem single multi-objective. It will demonstrated DOE procedure provides results very close those derived from considerable savings times.
